Journey Into Adventure: Part III - Baptism by Fire

If this experience has taught me anything, it's that anything is possible. This entire process: from entering the contest to the excruciating voting process, to the behind the scenes creative process has been... VERY educational. (and not always in a good way)

Throughout this entire process Jim and Kris have been absolutely delightful and a pleasure to work with. I'm glad they are both in my 'Korner'.

That said, be on the look out for a major announcement regarding Incredible Journey coming soon!

You won't be disappointed!

Journey Into Adventure: Part II

TV is an interesting thing. Especially when you're on it.

One of my favorite movies of all time is Willy Wonka. (The original, DAMN YOU TIM BURTON!) Especially the scene where the aptly named 'Mike TV' is tele-ported in a million tiny pieces into the TV set. That's kind of what I felt like last Tuesday when I was on my local FOX affiliate's morning show to talk about Incredible Journey.

Now please keep in mind that I am no stranger to performing. I have been a professional musician since I was 16 years old, and a DJ for the past couple of years. I was confident that I was going to be able to open my mouth and actual words would come out of it. I kept my cool the whole way down to the studio and the 40 minutes that I had to wait until my segment, but as soon as I sat on that pleather couch in front of the cameras I started to sweat. The next four minutes are a hazy blur. I can't remember what I was asked or what I said, except that I called myself a nerd several times. I DO remember that the producers did an awesome job of putting together the story, visuals and all. The feedback from the people who saw it was positive. I won't watch it though. I'll post it as soon as I get the clip, but I swear I won't watch it...ever! Sorry, but I don't want to see my fat face on TV. I'm weird like that.

Journey Into Adventure: Part I

So I've been asked to blog about the process of creating 'Incredible Journey' from beginning to end. My first thought: Great. Another chore to add to my ever expanding list. My second thought: This will be fun.

I guess a good place to start is my first official press experience. Tomorrow morning, I will be on my local Fox morning show to talk about my experiences with the "Who wants to create a super heroine contest" as well as 'Incredible Journey'. (Channel 11 KABB on Time Warner Cable in San Antonio)

While I am looking forward to it, I have no idea what to expect in terms of questions save for the obvious "How did you get into comics?" question.

I expect to be calm, cool, and collected although I've expected a lot before and have been let down time and time again.

Should I be witty? Should I be a serious artist? Should I be politician-like? Definitely not! I know I should be myself, but that doesn't help because I never know who's going to show up!

I'll let you know how it goes.

Incredible Journey! Coming soon from Shadowline/Image comics

I am pleased as punch to announce that production has begun on my first foray into comic books.

"Incredible Journey!" will be published by the good folks at Jim Valentino's ShadowLine imprint of Image Comics.

This was the end result of my winning the "Who wants to create a super heroine contest?" that ShadowLine put on late last year. The press release can be found here: http://forum.newsarama.com/showthread.php?t=153285

So far, the experience has been very enlightening and mostly positive.

Stay tuned folks, this is going to be a wild ride!
