Arguello enters a "Bizarre New World"!

I have been asked to write a few web-comics by Skipper Martin for his "Bizarre New World" series . If you haven't read BNW, I highly suggest you do so. The concept in a nutshell is simple: What if everyone in the world gained the ability to fly? What ramifications would that have not only on everyday life, but on everything from politics to religion to transportation? Needless to say it's a very large sandbox to play in... and I can't wait to jump right in.

Here are the three pitches for the web-comics I am currently writing:

“No Fly Zone”
Writer:
Tom Arguello
Art Team: TBD
(Set during the events of Issue #2)
While on his way back home from Vegas, Paul suddenly realizes he’s lost and ends up flying over the highly restricted airspace of ‘Area 51’!

“Air Ball”
Writer:
Tom Arguello
Art Team: TBD
(Set during the events of Issue #3)
What happens when a professional basketball player discovers he can fly? Does he play by the rules, or make rules of his own?

“Grounded”
Writer:
Tom Arguello
Art Team: TBD
(Set years after Population Explosion)
A young boy recounts the flying shenanigans that force his mother to ground him both literally and figuratively.

You can check out all the web-comics and learn more about the BNW universe here:

The Aviatrix

Here is my pitch for a mini called "The Aviatrix".

The pitch is simple. It's a what if-style story about what happened to Amelia Earhart. Currently seeking a publisher...

Journey Into Adventure: Part III - Baptism by Fire

If this experience has taught me anything, it's that anything is possible. This entire process: from entering the contest to the excruciating voting process, to the behind the scenes creative process has been... VERY educational. (and not always in a good way)

Throughout this entire process Jim and Kris have been absolutely delightful and a pleasure to work with. I'm glad they are both in my 'Korner'.

That said, be on the look out for a major announcement regarding Incredible Journey coming soon!

You won't be disappointed!

Journey Into Adventure: Part II

TV is an interesting thing. Especially when you're on it.

One of my favorite movies of all time is Willy Wonka. (The original, DAMN YOU TIM BURTON!) Especially the scene where the aptly named 'Mike TV' is tele-ported in a million tiny pieces into the TV set. That's kind of what I felt like last Tuesday when I was on my local FOX affiliate's morning show to talk about Incredible Journey.

Now please keep in mind that I am no stranger to performing. I have been a professional musician since I was 16 years old, and a DJ for the past couple of years. I was confident that I was going to be able to open my mouth and actual words would come out of it. I kept my cool the whole way down to the studio and the 40 minutes that I had to wait until my segment, but as soon as I sat on that pleather couch in front of the cameras I started to sweat. The next four minutes are a hazy blur. I can't remember what I was asked or what I said, except that I called myself a nerd several times. I DO remember that the producers did an awesome job of putting together the story, visuals and all. The feedback from the people who saw it was positive. I won't watch it though. I'll post it as soon as I get the clip, but I swear I won't watch it...ever! Sorry, but I don't want to see my fat face on TV. I'm weird like that.
